March 7, 2023 – The Regional Tax Office (RTO) Peshawar is utilizing the production and clearance data of the Track and Trace System of the FBR for increasing taxes from four major sectors, including tobacco. The latest performance report for RTO shows the value of goods (including foam mattresses, paper, plastic, steel, pipe and cement) from recently seized vehicles to be millions of rupees, and consequently, sales tax recovered to be around Rs. 12 million. In addition, over the last eight months, the RTO has conducted 13 raids in which nearly 23 million sticks of cigarettes, involving Federal Excise Duty of more than Rs. 47 million and sales tax of Rs. 13 million, have been seized. This crackdown on tax evaders is a positive step towards ensuring transparency in the tax system and promoting a culture of compliance.
Authentix is pleased to partner with FBR in this critical initiative and we look forward to continued success in helping the curtailment and remediation of illicit trade in these industries.
